Fall Protection - Industrial Regulation 851 - Train the Trainer

Employers operating under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Industrial Establishment Regulation 851 know that where workers are exposed to a potential of a fall hazard they must ensure that workers are adequately trained.

Ontario-Safety Training and Consulting Inc. provides ‘Train the Trainer’ programs for employers that choose to enable their instructors / supervisors to provide Fall Protection Training for workers. Programs are tailored to be workplace activity specific and the hazards that exist within the actual workplace are reviewed. The branding of the client's corporate name and logo is incorporated into the PowerPoint presentation and all written materials along with that of Ontario-Safety.ca. Where English as a second language is a consideration, multilingual options are possible.

The training program curriculum for the participants includes the following:

·Duties and responsibilities of employers, supervisors and those of workers

·Three Basic Rights of Workers

·Ontario Industrial Establishments Regulation 851- sections that pertain to the fall protection of workers

·What is fall prevention and what is fall arrest

·Workplace specific equipment tie offs and safe usage.

-A case study for participants to review and analyze, then making recommendations for safe work principles.

The course shall include a hands on practical module wherein participants will inspect, adjust and don their full body harness, attach the lanyard to an appropriate anchor point and demonstrate that they are competent to do so.

A multiple choice knowledge evaluation with a pass /fail criteria of 70 % for workers to be trained is an important aspect of training so as to maintain the integrity of the program and becomes a part of the employer's record of training.
