Asbestos-Awareness Training


Often referred to as "hands off" asbestos training, this course is recommended for individuals who need to understand the basics of asbestos building materials and related regulations. The course will provide attendees with:
Background of asbestos and its use in building materials
history of building materials made with asbestos
Health effects of asbestos exposure
Regulatory requirements for building owners who have buildings with asbestos-containing materials.
Overview of asbestos abatement procedures.
Note: This course is asbestos awareness only. This course does not prepare attendees to perform asbestos abatement or handling of asbestos.

Attendees who complete this course will receive a certificate of attendance.

Asbestos Type 1 & Type 2 Worker Training


This course is intended for maintenance or construction workers who will be disturbing asbestos-containing building materials by performing minor asbestos abatement or who may disturb asbestos-containing materials during the performance of other work. The course will provide attendees with:
Background of asbestos and its use in building materials
history of building materials made with asbestos
Health effects of asbestos exposure
Regulatory requirements for building owners who have buildings with asbestos-containing materials.
Classification of asbestos abatement procedures
Detailed review of Type 1 and Type 2 asbestos work procedures
Respirator training including
o Respirator selection
o Respirator care and maintenance
o Qualitative fit testing
Hands-on demonstration of asbestos abatement work
o Type 2 enclosure construction
o Glove Bag removal
Included in this course:
All materials and equipment for Type 2 enclosure construction
All materials and equipment for Glove Bag removal
One half face respirator (small, medium or Large as required) and P100 filters.

Note: This course will prepare attendees to perform Type 1 and Type 2 asbestos work only. Type 3 asbestos workers require certification from the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU). This course does not meet the requirements of MTCU Type 3 training.

Attendees who complete this course will receive a certificate of attendance.


About the Trainer
Jeff Lainsbury, MBA has worked in the Hazardous Materials industry for more than 25 years. During that time, Mr. Lainsbury has spent in excess of 80% of his time dealing with asbestos and asbestos related issues. Mr. Lainsbury has mediated asbestos related disputes and provided expert testimony on asbestos related incidences. Mr. Lainsbury has provided asbestos consulting services to local building owners as well as owners of national building portfolios and has provided thousands of hours of asbestos training.
