Ontario-Safety.ca's Director of Training and Operations 'Les Kalinics" has worked in the construction industry since 1985 initially as a Carpenter and later a Crane Operator. In 2011 and 2012, Les had the opportunity to assist Human Resources Development Canada and the Ontario College of Trades in helping with the development of the National Occupational Analysis and Red Seal Exam (interprovincial) for tower crane operators. On June 17, 2013 this examination became the benchmark for qualifying new operators to practice in Canada and for assisting current operators to change from provincial licensing to interprovincial. He later was invited to be an instructor at the Operating Engineer's Training Institute of Ontario. Most recently Mr. Kalinics has been recognized as one of the first Health and Safety professionals in Ontario to receive the new National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation from the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA).
